Everyone wants that completely spotless house. If you don’t have kids this might be a possibility. However no matter how hard you try dust may still be lurking in your home. Having a complete dust free home in Calgary may be impossible but there are ways of controlling the amount.

Replace Your Filters

As a homeowner, I’m sure you are aware that your furnace has filters. These filters collect the ducts, hair, and allergins that are collected from your cold air returns, and from the fresh air intake. There are many different filters, but which one do you choose? Read here to understand furnace filters!

Purchase an Air Purifier

Air Purifiers stop the dust from circulating and can be especially beneficial to household members who are especially sensitive to the dust in the air. Just be aware that you'll need one for each room you want to keep dust-free.

Vacuum on a Regular Basis

If your home has carpets it is especially important to vacuum 2-3 times a week. Dust and other debris become trapped. If you have hardwood floors you will notice the dust more, it's not hiding in your carpet, so vacuuming often can collect the dust.

Dust with Microfiber Cloths

My Mom told me that it is great to get a good feather duster. Today that statement isn’t true. Feather dusters just stir up the dust causing it to settle elsewhere. Microfiber cloths use an electrostatic charge that will capture the dust, instead of spreading it around.

Wash Your Bedding Weekly

You may not want to think about it, but the truth is that our bedding is a nesting ground for dust. Don’t believe me just look under your mattress or bed. If anyone in your household has been suffering from respiratory problems, washing the bedding on a weekly basis can help.

Reduce Clutter

The more "stuff" you have sitting around your home, the more places for dust to collect. Remove piles of books, boxes, and anything else that might be making barriers for dust and hair to settle. It's an easy solution that will definitely improve your home's air.

Duct Cleaning

If you are doing all these things and still find that you have too much dust in your home the problem might be in your ductwork.  Having regular furnace and duct cleaning can remove the dust and debris that is lurking in the vents of your home. This is a preventative measure that will not magically make your home dust free but it can help.
